1. Who we are
Synthetic Data Standard LLC, a New York limited liability company, operates syntheticdatastandard.org and is the data controller for the personal data described here. Contact: hello@syntheticdatastandard.org, or by mail at 418 Broadway #7521, Albany, NY 12207, USA.

2. What we collect and why

When you register interest in certification. We collect your name, role, work email, company name and website, and the information you give about your solution. We use it to understand who is interested in certification, to contact you about your registration, and, if you tick the box, to email you about the certification guidelines and the founding cohort. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in running the certification program and, for the emails, your consent.

When you download a field guide. If the download form asks for your name, company name and email, we use them to send the guide and, if you tick the box, to tell you about future publications. Legal basis: consent.

When you email us. We keep the correspondence to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interest.

When you browse the site. Our hosting provider, Wix, collects technical data such as your IP address, browser type, pages visited and approximate location, and sets cookies for security, performance and analytics. We use aggregated analytics to see how the site is used. Legal basis: legitimate interest for essential cookies, consent for analytics cookies where the law requires it. You can manage cookies through the banner on the site and in your browser.

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising.

3. Who we share it with

Wix (Wix.com Ltd., Israel, with data centers in the United States and Europe), which hosts the site and processes form submissions on our behalf

Google (Google LLC, United States), whose Gmail and Workspace services we use for email and to store correspondence and form data

Professional advisors, such as lawyers and accountants, when needed

Authorities, if the law requires it, or where disclosure is needed to protect our rights or the safety of others

A successor organization, if Synthetic Data Standard LLC is sold, merged or restructured; this policy will continue to apply to your data

We do not share wait-list registrations with advisory council members, other providers or anyone else.

4. Where your data is stored

We are based in the United States and our providers may store data in the US and elsewhere. If you are in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, your data may be transferred outside your region. Our providers rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for those transfers.

5. Security

We rely on the security measures of Wix and Google, and we limit access to form submissions and correspondence to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that your data will never be accessed without authorization.

6. How long we keep it

Wait-list registrations: until the founding cohort is selected, then up to 24 months, unless you ask us to delete them sooner or you become a certification client, in which case the certification agreement governs

Field guide requests and email correspondence: up to 24 months after our last contact

Analytics data: as set by Wix, in aggregated form

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, receive a copy in a portable format, and withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email hello@syntheticdatastandard.org. We may ask you to confirm your identity before we act on a request. We will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EEA or UK and are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to your local data protection authority.

If you are a California resident, you may also ask us to confirm what personal data we hold about you and how we use it, and we will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights. Our site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" or opt-out preference signals.

Every marketing email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

8. Children

The site is intended for professionals. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

9. Changes

We may update this policy. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site.
