1. Who we are and what this site is for
This website, syntheticdatastandard.org, is operated by Synthetic Data Standard LLC, a New York limited liability company ("we", "us"). The site provides information about the Standard and its advisory council, publishes our field guides and other materials, and lets providers of synthetic data register interest in certification. By using the site you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Certification does not happen on this site
Registering interest through the site is not an application for certification and creates no obligation for you or for us. Certification, including its scope, fees and timing, is governed only by a separate written agreement signed by both parties. Nothing on this site is an offer to certify any provider.
3. No endorsement
Nothing on this site is a recommendation of any provider, product or service. If we publish a list of certified providers, inclusion means only that the provider met the published certification criteria at the time of its audit. It is not an endorsement, a ranking or a guarantee of quality. Members of our advisory council shape the guidelines behind the Standard; they do not certify, evaluate or endorse individual providers.
You may not state or imply that registering interest, being on a wait list, or any contact with us amounts to certification, approval or endorsement by Synthetic Data Standard.
4. Using our publications
Our field guides and other materials are owned by Synthetic Data Standard LLC and protected by copyright. You may download, read, share and quote them, in whole or in part, for any purpose, on one condition: you credit Synthetic Data Standard as the source and, where practical, link to syntheticdatastandard.org. You may not modify our materials and present the result as ours, remove our name from them, or sell them.
Our name and logo are our trademarks. You may use our name to refer to us or to credit our work. You may not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we endorse you or your products.
5. Accuracy and changes
The field of synthetic data changes quickly and so does our understanding of it. Our publications describe the field as we understand it at the time of writing and will be revised. We provide the site and its content for general information only; they are not legal, professional or investment advice, and you should not rely on them as the sole basis for any decision. We may change, add to or remove content and features at any time without notice.
6. Third-party content
The site is hosted on Wix and uses Wix services, including the forms. We also link to other sites. We are not responsible for the content, availability or privacy practices of any third party.
7. Acceptable use
You may not use the site in any way that breaks the law, interferes with its operation, or attempts to gain unauthorized access to it or its data. You may not submit false information through our forms.
8. Disclaimer and limitation of liability
The site and its content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Synthetic Data Standard LLC and its members, managers, employees, advisors and advisory council members will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, business, data or goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use the site or its content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the site will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New York County, New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The date at the top shows when they last changed. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the new Terms.
